On 28 March 2026, the Zittau Narrow-Gauge Railway kicks off its peak season – marking the start of one of the most beautiful times of year for a journey through the awakening Zittau Mountains. As the historic steam locomotives roll through forests, past striking sandstone cliffs and idyllic villages, every journey becomes a special experience of nature and nostalgia. 🌿

The popular double departures from Bertsdorf station are once again a real highlight. When two steam-hauled trains set off from the station at the same time, it’s not just railway enthusiasts whose hearts race – it’s an impressive moment that simply has to be seen.

There’s plenty of enjoyment on offer too:
🍽️ The historic dining car is in service daily on the steam train between Zittau and Kurort Oybin.
Here you can enjoy regional specialities and drinks during the journey – with a view of the unique landscape of the Zittau Mountains.
☕ The Steam Train Café at Oybin station is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm during the season. Perfect for a relaxing break after the train journey – with a direct view of the historic trains.
